Why we exist

Healthcare shouldn’t cost more than people can afford to live.

Lumina Medical Travel exists because good dental care in the U.S. has become a luxury good — and we don’t think it should be. We connect patients with vetted, credentialed providers in Mexico so quality care is something you can actually plan for, not something you have to go into debt for.

What we believe

Our thinking, plainly stated.

Care shouldn’t require a loan

Most dental work in the U.S. isn’t covered by insurance. We believe cost shouldn’t be the reason someone lives with pain, or delays care they need.

Trust has to be earned upfront

We vet every provider’s credentials and licensure before we ever recommend them — not after something goes wrong. You shouldn’t have to take that risk on faith.

Clarity, not sales pressure

We’re an advocacy layer, not a booking engine. Our job is to give you an honest answer about whether travel care makes sense for you — even when that answer is no.

One point of contact, start to finish

You’re never left to coordinate between a clinic and a travel agent on your own. We stay with you before, during, and after your trip.

From the founder

A note from Lauren

“I started Lumina because I’ve seen firsthand how expensive dental care can get — and how quickly it adds up for a family. Watching people I love struggle financially for several dental procedures made it clear to me that this isn’t a rare problem. It’s the norm for most Americans without serious dental coverage.

I don’t think quality care should be something you have to go into debt for. Lumina exists to give people another option — one where the same level of care is actually within reach, without cutting corners on who’s providing it. That’s the whole reason this company exists.”

How we vet providers

What actually happens before we recommend someone.

“We vet every provider” is easy to say. Here’s what it actually means at Lumina.

01

Licensure & credential check

We confirm each provider’s license is active and in good standing with the relevant dental board before they’re ever added to our network.

02

Facility & standards review

We look at the clinic itself — equipment, sterilization practices, and whether the facility meets standards comparable to what you’d expect at home.

03

English-language communication

Every provider we work with can communicate clearly with you in English, from your first consult through aftercare.

04

Ongoing review, not a one-time check

We stay in touch with our providers and with the patients they treat, so a provider’s standing in our network reflects how they’re actually performing — not just how they looked on paper once.

Where we’re headed

This is just the beginning.

Lumina started with dental care because it’s where we saw the clearest opportunity to build something we’d trust with our own family. Over time, our aim is to grow into a broader platform for accessible healthcare travel — more procedures, more destinations, more people who no longer have to choose between their health and their finances.
